I have a couple of topics in this letter:  Forgive me, but I wrote my brains out on this one.

1. Priorities

2.Ideas

Priorities:

I know a lot of people that talk a good game.  They say they want to work for themselves, but they don't ever really try.  I've been thinking about this a great deal lately.  The truth is it's difficult to trust yourself enough to be totally dependent just on yourself.  For many it's even scary.  The thing about Internet businesses is that they can take just a little bit of your time to start, be inexpensive to run and not compete at all with your present job.  This means you don't have to worry about conflict of interest problems.

Because of the net, in the future, more and more people will be working at home.  Not just self-employed people, but those working for various companies.  I know someone who just moved her medical transcription job from a hospital to her home.  Because of the way they pay medical transcriptionists (by the line), she will actually be making more than she was on her salary at the hospital.  She also gets to keep all of her benefits.  If you have the type of job that could be done at home, consider talking to your employer.  The benefits to them could include reduced liability issues, office cost reduction and a reduction in subsidized transportation and parking.

The main reason for my mentioning priorities is that many people will go out to dinner frequently, buy  video games at $50-$60 each, buy $125 sneakers, but worry about getting "ripped off" when someone tries to sell them some information on starting a business for $50 or less.  All of the things people "blow" money on are absolutely no investment in the future.  Much of the information available is written by people who have had great success in doing what they are writing about.  They are excited about it.  They know what they are doing.  It may have taken them years of trial and error to succeed in whatever it is they are writing about.  The wonderful thing is, they want to teach you what they know.  Yes, they want you to buy something.  Yes, it's their business to sell you information.  But, from the ones that I have bought and used, I know that I have learned something.  They saved me lot's of time in learning what they happen to teach.  Time is, to me, the most precious commodity.  I have no idea how much longer I will live.  I want to learn as much as I can, as soon as possible.  So, my advice to you is: At least every once in a while, buy one of these books, or sign up for a course.  Skip the expensive dinner.  If you learn enough, you may be able to afford expensive dinners whenever you want.  And even if you don't make a fortune as some of the ads claim, you will have learned something.

Some of the things I am referring to are on http://ExtraGoodLife.com/income.htm , but there are many other information sources around.  I'm just asking you to keep an open mind and if you see something you like, try it.  I remember how thrilling it was the first time I saw statistics of people clicking on ads I wrote - and even more exciting when someone actually bought a product I was promoting.  It's instant gratification.  In the real world things happen in slow motion.  The Internet is like fast forward.  And, although I plan to retire eventually, this is my priority for now.

Ideas:

It occurred to me that one way that I can help anyone I can is to pass on ideas that I have, that I know I will never use.  If you're like me, you have a busy life.  Every once in a while I think of a business idea, but since I'm kind of busy, I either forget about it, or just never have time to do anything about it.

I look at problems people have as business opportunities, supplying a solution defines the business.

Here's a problem I have.  I can't read without glasses.  No one wears glasses in the shower.  How do I know whether the stuff I'm putting on my head is shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tile cleaner or drain opener?  Think of a solution to this problem and you've got a business, or at least a product.  Suggestions: Sell the idea to shampoo manufacturers to put a big S or C on their bottles (shampoo or conditioner).  Create something you can hang on the bottle, or clip on it.  Maybe it could have a raised letter, so people that can hardly see can still tell what their using.  Maybe you'll think of an even better solution.

If you have an idea like this and want to share it with perfect strangers, let me know.  I put it in the news letter.

Have a great day,
